"Pearl Harbor Survivors – One Last Goodbye"

2011-2012

Six men who survived Pearl Harbor were interviewed and documented in Pensacola, FL. Our crew flew with these men to Pearl Harbor for the 70th Anniversary on December 7, 2011. Principal photography has been completed and post production has begun.

Ranging in age from 89-92, these vibrant men gave "One Last Goodbye" to their fallen friends.

Robert Breland has been in the business for over 25 years. During this time Robert has pushed the envelope in the advancement of video production. Having worked for 12 years in the grind of producing weekly episodic television series he knows firsthand the importance of producing in the most efficient ways possible to keep projects on time and in budget.

 

Robert started out shooting and editing film and was one of the first to edit in non-linear computer edit systems and shoot in the digital formats that are now commonplace.

  • Produced over 130 hours of nationally televised programming for ESPN and ESPN2
  • In 1995 shot and edited “Sportsman’s Challenge” series, which became highest rated television series on ESPN’s Outdoor Block
  • Produced ESPN’s “Inshore Angler with Mike Dyess” outdoor television series for 4 years. Managed logistics and edited independently. Delivered programming well within time and budget restraints.
  • Led company’s transition from tape-based facility to non-linear, all digital production facility.
  • Produced over 200 2- minute vignettes for ESPN and ESPN2
  • Managed and oversaw numerous domestic and international shoots, including: Costa Rica, jungles of Venezuela, Pacific Ocean, Belize, Mexico, Norway, Canada, Caribbean, and Artic Circle.

Executive Producer/ Camera Operator/ Online Editor

  • Hired as Online Editor to finish and polish several episodic shows for TNN Outdoors and was rapidly promoted to role of Photographer/Editor for ESPN’s “Sportsman’s Challenge”. Began producing
  • Produced hugely popular “Bass Professor” segments and many 2-minute vignettes for ESPN.
  • Selected in 1998 as Executive Producer of “Inshore Angler with Mike Dyess,” a multiple air, weekly series on ESPN2 focused entirely on saltwater fishing.
  • Oversaw all phases of production, including: team building, planning shoots, logistics, field production, post production and delivery.
  • Interacted with sponsors to ensure contractual obligations, and with ESPN to maintain high production values and standards.
  • Produced “The Urban Angler” series for ESPN2, which was high concept 2-minute vignettes featuring fishing in large metropolitan areas. Utilized “Average Joe” to highlight their city and local fishing opportunities.

  • Conceived, produced and hosted live call-in show in Pensacola, Fl. Which became top rated local show.
  • Gained contract with Alfalfa Video chain to produce in-store promotional tapes and corporate training videos.
  • Produced and directed several local cable shows.
  • Ceased operations in 1992 when recruited by SCI Production.
